ASG Working With FOSI

In May 2004, at the initiative of the African Salvation Group Corp, our local partner in DR Congo, Le Groupe du Salut Africain, joined FOSI (Forum SIDA). FOSI is an association of all Congolese HIV/AIDS organizations. It was put in place by the "Plan National pour la Lutte contre le SIDA" (PNLS: the national plan for the fight against HIV/AIDS). Le Groupe du Salut Africain is the organization that is implementing our interventions projects.

There are currently 17 members in the FOSI forum. The African Salvation Group have already been collaborating with several through our on going HIV Education, Prevention and Risk Reduction, and Skills Building programs. The Foundation Christ-Ecole de la Vie and the Organization des Jeunes Vivant avec le SIDA (OJVS) are two we have close working relations with.

In addition, at FOSI's request, the African Salvation Group has begun work to help organize the members organizations. We hope to create a consortium to effectively design and implement widescale, comprehensive prevention programs. Community and street outreach, voluntary counseling and testing, and follow up care will be fundamental to our cause.
